Skincare of the year 2016

Today we are going to look back at the year and see, what were my most favourite favourites through the year.

The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Gel Wash

It is a face cleanser with mineral rich seaweed from Roaring Water Bay Ireland. I use it as a first step of my morning routine and the second step of my evening routine. It cleanses my skin well. The product removes my makeup without any trouble and gives me a clean feel. It foams nicely and smells even better. I guess I just like the scent of the Seaweed range.

The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner

It is an alcohol free toner for combination/oily skin. It is my first experience with this product. I have used seaweed masks and scrubs before, but not the toner. I have been using it twice a day as a part of my morning and evening routine. The toner feels cooling and nice on my face. After using it, my skin feels fresh and clean. I also love the scent of the product. Plus, it mattifies my skin which is always nice for me.

The Body Shop Seaweed Pore Cleansing Facial Exfoliator

This has been my Holy Grail product since May of 2015. It cleans my pores, smoothes my skin, removes all dead skin cells, and it smells good. Plus, it has a really nice design and is easy to use. Also, it keeps zitastrophes under control if there are any. I mean, what else would you want from a facial exfoliator?

The Body Shop Tea Tree 3-in-1 Wash.Scrub.Mask.

I gently massage it on my face to remove all sleep, night cream, and possible impurities. After a minute I rinse it off and move on to creams. If you are interested to read about more of the 3-in-1 Wash.Scrub.Mask, link to the review is here

The Body Shop British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask

This is a refreshing gel face mask which is infused with real rose petals, rose essence, rosehip oil and organic Community Trade aloe vera. It promises to moisturise the skin and give it a smooth, youthful, dewy appearance. The scent of the mask is sweet. It smells like a rose garden on a sunny afternoon. I love the rosy scent! You can read a full review about the product here.

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

This is a slightly tingling clay mask which is infused with with bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves, and organic tea tree oil. All those components make it perfect for combination/oily skin like mine. It promises to draw out impurities and refine appearance of pores for healthy looking skin. The scent is fresh and clearing. I can sense green tea vibe and tea tree. On my skin the mask feels nice. The consistency is soft, smooth, and creamy enough for an easy application. It has little charcoal pieces in it, which give it an interesting look and feel. You can read a full review about the product here.

The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask

This mask is suitable for combination/oily skin since it purifies, cleanses, and controls excess oil. I´ve been using it twice a week after my shower, when the hot water and steam have already prepared my skin for a face mask. I apply the mask, wait ten minutes, then wash it off. I love how soft my skin feels after the mask. My face is clean, smooth, and the redness is reduced.  Plus, I look like the better, sexy half of Voldemort while wearing the mask. It is totally a win-win situation.

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Make-Up Remover

It does a fantastic job. When I use it, I hold a cotton pad on my eyes for fifteen seconds. After that I gently wipe my eye makeup off. The formula is gentle on the eyes. I am quite certain that even those who have sensitive eyes can use it.

Turbliss Deeply Moisturizing Face Oil

On the package it says: “Deeply moisturizing and protective. Suitable to use as a cold protection. Contains high levels of omega 3, omega 6 fatty acids, linoleic acid, and phytochemicals which keep the skin elastic and healthy. Orange and myrtle essential oils support skin structure and uplift the spirit. 100% natural.

The oil has a really good scent. It smells like orange, cardamom, ginger, and winter spices. If the scent would have a name, I would call it a lovely Christmas evening.

The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream

As the name says, it is a night time product. The cream is concentrated, so a small amount goes a long way. I use it before bed. When I wake, my skin is moisturised and I have that wonderful morning glow. You can read full review here.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth™ Youth Cream

I first tried it from a little sampler package and I fell in love. It is a very airy cream, soft, and moisturising. The cream has subtle fresh scent. A big plus is that it disappears into the skin quickly. I use it as a morning cream.

The texture of the cream is soft, and airy. It reminds me a bit of a whipped egg yolk. It is easy to apply on the skin  with the little spatula. I don’t suggest dipping your fingers into any cream because of the possibility of contamination. At least I feel uncomfortable if I think of scooping face products on my skin with my fingers.

The smell of the cream is fresh. When I close my eyes and breathe in the scent, springtime comes to mind. You know, the scent after the rain on a chilly, sunny afternoon?

Does it give my skin a “youthful-looking bounce” as it promises? I don’t know because I haven’t lost it yet. I use the cream only because I like how it feels on my skin, and it smells nice. Also, the cream is a good moisturiser.

The Body Shop Bouncy Sleeping Mask from the Drops Of Youth series

The mask is smoothing, refreshing, and replenishing, and all that while I am sleeping. It is perfect for a rather lazy person like me to take care of moisturizing my skin without having to put much thought in it. Although, while using this, I have to pay attention not to apply too much of the product on my face. The mask has a thick consistency and a small drop will cover half of my face. Applying too much of the product on my skin ends with having most of it on my pillow later. So, if I keep that in my mind, I will be golden.

      • I don’t try new skincare too quickly because of my sensitive skin, I can only try one new item every few weeks so I don’t irritate it!
